Zeila Tesoriere (1971) is associate professor with tenure in architecture at the University of Palermo (UniPA), member and founding partner of LIAT _ Laboratoire de Recherche Infrastructure, Architecture, Territoire with location at the Ecole Normale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris Malaquais.
She directs InFRA Lab, a research unit that she founded in 2013 at UniPA, focused on the relationships between architecture and infrastructure in contemporary design problems.
Her interests investigate architecture as product of cultural and political shifts.
Currently ongoing research explores the contemporary reframing of disciplinary relationships between architecture, the urban realm, and the three mains infrastructural systems (transportation, information, energy) in order to expand the field of architectural design, both in theory and practice, within a framework marked by energy transition, sustainability issues, deindustrialization, counter urbanization. Within the mains case studies, stands the elaboration in progress of a general model for the re-cycle and transformation of the areas surrounding Palermo ring-road, a city within the city.
Her precedent researches have focus on temporary housing in emergency contexts, with a theoretical approach focused on the poetic of the young Roland Simounet.
Tesoriere publishes internationally, notably with papers in relevant journals and books chapters in France, the USA, Portugal, Italy. She regularly publishes in “Trasporti & Cultura”, an academic journal on infrastructural, landscape and architectural studies, whose scientific committee she integrates since 2014.

Prof. Tesoriere graduated in Architecture from the University of Palermo (1999) and obtained her Ph.D. in 2004 at the University Paris8 and at the University of Palermo, after achieving an international co-tutelle thesis.
Prior than in Rome La Sapienza, she has integrate the PhD college in Architectural Design at the University of Palermo (Dottorato di ricerca in Progettazione Architettonica - 2010-2015).
She currently holds the chair of Architectural design studio IV (architecture) and the chair of urban and architectural design IV (urban planning) at the Scuola Politecnica, University of Palermo.
