Renzo Lecardane, architect and PhD at University of Palermo and at Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC-Parigi), is Associate Professor in Architectural and Urban Design at the Department of Architecture of Polytechnic School of University of Palermo.
He has carried out an intense teaching activity at the Ecole d’Architecture Paris-Malaquais, the Ecole d’Architecture Paris-Val de Seine, the Ecole d’Architecture la Villette and the Master Aménagement et Maîtrise d’Ouvrage Urbaine dell’ENPC Paris, affiliating with the Laboratoire Techniques, Territoires et Sociétés (ENPC-Paris) and the Département Théorie, Historie, Projet dell’Ecole d’Architecture de Paris-Malaquais.
At the moment he conducts his research on the relationship between architecture and urban figure in Palermo at the Department of Architecture (UNIPA) and in Paris at the Laboratoire de Recherche Infrasctrucutre Architecture Territoire (LIAT- ENSA Paris Malaquais), whose he is a founder.
In 2013 he has founded the research group L@bCity ARCHITECTURE at UniPA which focuses on the connection between architecture, city and territory experiencing a virtuous cycle of relations, stages and workshops with the University institutions of Barcelona, Bordeaux, Chur, Marsiglia, Mosca, Oslo, Parigi, Rotterdam, Busan (South Korea).
From 2009 to 2016 he was a member in the Professors Board of Doctoral Program in Architecture at the University of Palermo, where he was tutor of the PhD thesis with the Laboratoire Temps, Espaces, Langages, Europe Méridionale, Méditerranée, Universitè Aix-Marseille (France) and co-tutor for an international PhD thesis with the Université Constantine 3 (Algeria).
Since 2017 he is a member in the Professors Board of Doctoral Program in Architecture, Theory and Design at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'.
He is involved in national and international research groups such as 'Progetto CoRI 2016 "Infrastruttura inter-attiva: architettura e città contemporanea tra Europa e Asia/Inter-active infrastructure: architecture and contemporary city in Europe and Asia' with the Department of Urban Planning, College of Architecture and Urban Planning Tongji University Shanghai (China), and multi-years research projects such as Imaginaires d'infrastructures (2005-2009) e Afriques (2011-2015) with the LIAT- ENSA Paris Malaquais.
In 2017 he has been winner, with his research group LabCity ARCHITECTURE and the New Fundamentals Research Group (DICAR-Politechnic School of Bari), of the First International Prize fot innovation PrintArch Challenges impression 3D pour l’architecture with the project Architectural Hypar System (AHS) which proposes an action-research on 3D printing according to environmental sustainability, recycle and reuse of stone materials.
He is member of Scientific Committee of the Journal Studies of Architecture, Urbanism and Environmental Sciences Journal, Hakim Sabzevari University, University Putra Malaysia, of Panel of Experts for the french-chinese Journal EcoDialogue.
