prof. Charis Gantes,
The steel roof of the new football stadium of Panathinaikos F.C. (in Votanikos, Athens, Greece) consists of four independent parts, supported by main truss girders on reinforced concrete pylons and on the exterior peripheral reinforced concrete columns of the grandstands.
Prof. Charis Gantes, one of the designers, will present the main features of the Stadium, with particular emphasis on the roof and its interaction with the underlying reinforced concrete structures during seismic events.
Then, issues pertaining to optimization of geometry in order to achieve satisfaction of architectural constraints in the most safe and cost effective manner will be discussed, together with the scheduled erection phases of the steel roof.
