EUROPEAN COMPETITION OF PROPOSALS:
A LIGHT IN THE DARK

ANIMA – a no-profit association established on the initiative of Rome Union of Industrialists whose goal is to develop projects aiming at promoting social responsibility and implementing sustainable development policy -, in the framework of its activities devoted to increasing awareness and understanding of social issues, announces an European on-line competition of proposals.

The purpose of the competition is to design both an information point and hospitality centre for homeless people; it should be a pattern suitable for different urban contexts rather than being designed for a specific place.

Competitors are asked to generate a module not exceeding the size of 4,00 x 4,00 metres and having free height for each designed concept.

The competition is intended to provide a kaleidoscope of different proposals and ideas on the issue of social and ethical solidarity towards the most disadvantaged classes; therefore, its aim is to collect different projects expressing the feeling of the new generation of designers working in Europe, in the attempt to provide a tangible contribution to civil co-existence and the improvement of the quality of life in urban communities.

All entries will be judged and the six most innovative projects will be chosen, that is the ones best capable of expressing the meaning of this initiative.

Entry Requirements

All participants in the competition are invited to express, through their concepts, their commitment in interpreting urban discomfort as well as their ability to provide useful tools to reduce difficulties experienced by homeless people.

Competition fee is none and participation is open to either individual or team entries from Architects of the European Union.

Competitors will be automatically registered for the competition on submitting their design.

All participants are asked to send an e-mail to concorsoanima@unioneindustriali.roma.it by June 10th 2002 including all the material listed below:
