One of the best of example of this is the work of the polish scholar and scientist and artist Zbigniew Oksiuta who collaborates with Max Planck Lab in Cologne Germany. Oksiuta is developing prototypes of inhabitable space that grows out of artificial material in water. These new hybrid structures are inhabitable, can be used in different context and circumstances and in some case they can also be eatable.

The incorporation of technology is The idea is that architecture, after having made itself into landscape during the 1990s, whether in the stratifications and palimpsests of Eisenman, or the residual urbanscape of Gehry, or the waves of Hadid or again in the precipitous movements of the late Miralles, can become a reactive landscape, complex, animated and alive. Thus Information Technology plays three key roles in this new context:
First of all, it supplies the “mathematical models” to investigate the geological, biological, physical and chemical complexity of nature and, beginning with these models of simulation, allows the structuring of new relations in projects that exploit reasons and dynamics.
In the second place, IT supplies decisive weapons for the real construction of projects conceived with this complex “all digital” logic.
In the third place, IT endows architecture with reactive systems capable of simulating types of behavior in nature, in reacting to climate, usage flows and ultimately also emotional behavior, and so offers a new phase of esthetic research we have frequently discussed when speaking of the challenges of Interactivity.
And in the fourth place, IT, or rather the Information Age, also supplies an overall different model of the city and urban landscape: mixed in its uses, superimposed in its flows, open 24 hours a day, with “nature and artifice” structurally interwoven into production, leisure, social and residential activities.

This conceptual approach opens to different projects and research. We mentioned before some books of the “it Revolution in Architecture” series but my work is also related my Chair of Arhcitectural design at La Sapienza Rome and to the Research group NitroSaggio (“New Information Technolgy Research Group”) based in Rome and in Sicily that I funded in 2004.
Among the first example can be mentioned the New proposal of Museum for Francesco Borromini in Rome. It is an Hybrid structure that acts as a bridge and a atmospheric machine and a natural element in the Pamphilj Park in Rome.

Among the research work of Nitro is the project Memnostyle for new issues of cemetery space that integrates land treatments, architecture and new hybrid design elements, the project “Urban Eirey” that proposes an integrated element for urban situation that integrates leisure sound and air treatment and the built prototype “Electronic Palm” (an hybrid object half natural half highly technological that uses Optical fibers, sound and sensors)
